      Hi there. So for filtering the content? Yes. Layout, style, javascript effects? Yes, but it will require some custom development on your part (CSS/JS, editing WP Template).

      Hope that helps

  3. Hi. I’m interested in search and filter pro, but need to know first, if the plugin can solve my problem: Is it possible to create different search-forms (on different pages) where different tags are excluded? Or is there only one general option to exclude tags and this is for all search-forms the same?
    I need to a filter an page A, wich has only choosen tags (from category A) and an other filter on page B, wich has (other) choosen tags (from category B).
    I thought this might be a usual problem, but till today I didnt get a solution for this problem and no help in forums. I hope search and filter (wich I use) can do it in the pro version…

      Hi Daniel

      Yup in S&F Pro, you can build multiple different search forms, each having their own properties and queries.. There is a UI for including / excluding tags or any taxonomy from a particular search form so this should be no issue 🙂

    Is the developer license needs to be renew annually too?
    I’m asking because I would like to buy this plugin but not with a yearly fee,
    Is there a lifetime package?

    Reply
    • Ross

      Unfortunately we do not have a lifetime package – both licenses require renewals in order to get updates & support, however you can continue to use the plugin as is (if you don’t have an active license) as long as you like.

      Hope that helps

  5. Pre-sale questions:

    I am trying to do a simple directory site, using a free theme Hueman, and inserting additional informations into post using AFC plugin. I need a plugin to sort / filter the normal posts by their custom fields data.

    1) ive tried many other plugins so far, but all of them destroy the theme design, they interfere with theme css most likely.
    Search Filter Pro interfere with theme css also?
    2) I have to use / create a page template to sort the posts?
    3) Filter can be insert into widget, or i have to create a wide page that incorporate the listing + filter?
    4) Could you please accept a payment throught a secure page from paypal? I wont type credit card details throught custom form made on a wordpress site because of security reasons.
    5) Since i already bought / tried many failed filtering plugins, is there any 14 days refund policy?

    Thanks in advance!

      Hi Kiry

      To answer your questsions:

      1) S&F should not interferre with themes CSS, unless you are already using the class name “search-filter” or id “search-filter”, CSS is namespaced so you shouldn’t get any interference.

      2) Yup, we don’t have a layout builder, but you can attach S&F to any WP_Query and it will then be applied to that, otherwise you can use several display methods, and create your own php template file, or integrate it with a WP Template in your theme, like archive.php or search.php, please read here for our integration options: https://www.designsandcode.com/documentation/search-filter-pro/search-results/#Display_Results_Method

      3) We have a widget for the search form, so you can use standard widget or a shortcode to display one of your search forms.

      4) We accept payment through paypal, so no worries there

      5) I’m afraid our refund policy only covers you when we can’t get S&F working in your site, or there is a problem with one of the features we advertise… What this means in effect is we will help you get setup, should you have issues we help resolve, but we can’t really help your layout/theme integration – this will be upto you… If we can’t get it working, we will of course provide a refund (upto 30 days) – please read more here – https://www.designsandcode.com/wordpress-plugins/search-filter-pro/faqs/#refund-policy

      Hope that helps

    Hello,
    Would this plugin to search/ filter names of pictures what i have in my gallery( another plugin)

    Reply
    • Ross

      Probably, but it depends on how these are being stored.. My guess would be (as with a good few other plugins) that they would be stored either as a custom post type or in the media library, if its either of these S&F should work with them 🙂

      Thanks

    Hi,

    I’m using Pages with additional ACF fields will the plugin search work for this?

    Also is there a simple way to make a Horizontal query? I’m making a real estate site and want it up in the hero section of the page.

    Regards,
    Martyn

      Hi Martyn, you can make the form horizontal using some CSS – we can help if you open a ticket in support.

      S&F should work with ACF fields, we support most of the common / basic ones but we don’t support the repeater field – do you know which field types you will need to use? Thanks

        I’m using basic text fields but they are being used with Pages, will the plugin search and display results of pages as well as Posts?

        Reply
        • Ross

          Sure, a page is just another post type, and you can choose your post type(s) to search in S&F 🙂

    Pre-Sales Question

    Adding categories and tags to PAGES

    As supplement to my previous inquiry…

    Please reference this post > https://abhijitrawool.com/add-categories-and-tags-for-wordpress-pages/

    The author suggests 2 methods for “adding categories and tags to PAGES”

    1) use toolset plugin

    2) . Paste these 2 code snippets in the functions.php file of your theme OR child theme:
    This piece of code will add Categories and Tags for Pages.

    //Register Category and Tag taxonomies for Page post-type
    function register_taxonomies_for_pages() {
    register_taxonomy_for_object_type( ‘post_tag’, ‘page’ );
    register_taxonomy_for_object_type( ‘category’, ‘page’ );
    }
    add_action( ‘init’, ‘register_taxonomies_for_pages’ );

    AND also add this code

    // Set any Custom Post Type to be displayed on the archive.php and tag.php
    function category_tag_archives( $wp_query ) {
    if ( $wp_query->get( ‘category_name’ ) || $wp_query->get( ‘cat’ ) || $wp_query->get( ‘tag’ ) )
    $wp_query->set( ‘post_type’, ‘any’ );
    }
    add_action( ‘pre_get_posts’, ‘category_tag_archives’ );

    QUESTIONS:
    1) Will the code snippets do the job ? After code insertion and assigning categories and tags to PAGES, can your “search and filter pro” be used to filter PAGES by categories and tags as well as POSTS ?
    2) which of the 2 methods above seems preferable ?
    3) I imagine that once I make these changes, it is best NOT to revert back at any point in the future to the original condition when there was no option to assign tags and categories to PAGES ?

    All input is welcome

    thankyou

      Hi there

      To answer your questions:

      1) This shouldn’t be an issue
      2) This is upto you, using a feature rich plugin (Toolset) just to add this 1 feature might be overkill for what you need. Although I haven’t tested the code snippet, it looks like it will do what you need. If it did not, there will be a bunch of other ways to do this.
      3) Not really sure I follow this question, can you explain more?

      Thanks

        Ross

        Thankyou for your response to my inquiry.

        So to confirm, adding the code snippets shown above should enable use of tags and categories on PAGES, and also use of your filtering plugin…correct ?

        And, to confirm, once the snippet codes are installed, and I start use of tags & categories for PAGES, it’s probably best not to revert backwards to pre-tag/category use because the code snippets will have altered the database and I could cause “problems” ??? thankyou for your help.

        • Ross

          Hi Dan, I cannot confirm that your code will work (I’ve not tested it, but it looks about right).. but I can confirm that this has been done so many times you shouldn’t have a problem getting this setup to work, either with your code, or some alternatives via a google search.

          RE the second point, you are correct, removing your tags/categories code will likely leave redundant values in the database, in addition, plugins that use the new tags/categories for pages will stop working for those particular things.

          Just as an FYI, tags and categories are basically “taxonomies” (it might be worth reading up on them)… What might be better is that you create new taxonomies for your pages, and call them something like “page categories” etc, just to help avoid naming conflicts… that being said, you should have no issue doing what you mention initially either using your code snippets or alternatives via google.

  15. Hello, I am interested in buying Search & Filter Pro, I want to know if it is compatible with Post Grid I use in my site to extrapolate the post because I want to maintain the page layout that gives me Post Grid, but I would like to apply your filters.
    I would also like to know if you can get a test version to check how it works in my site.

      Hi Tiziano

      Unfortunately there is no test version yet, but there is one thing I need to know in order to be able to give you a definitive answer.

      With the post grid plugin, are you able to access the query used to generate the layout? If the answer is yes, then S&F will work, we just need to make one modification to the query and S&F will hook right into it (open a ticket on support if you get that far and we can point you in the right direction).

      Thanks

    Hi – very impressive!
    I’m interested in purchasing this plugin to use in our Resource page.
    We have many items in our database and i was wondering if this might be a challenge for your plugin? especially at first when it will need to load all entries (100+ and growing)?
    Cheers’

    • Ross

      100+ is no problem at all, I would estimate that 4k – 8k posts can be handled quite comfortably (also depending on your server & wp config), and disabling certain settings will allow S&F to handle even more posts (sorry for delay I’ve been on holiday, our support forums have remained operational though)

    Pre-sale questions:

    – Is it possible to search and filter trough attachments of the media library?
    – When I set-up categories for media files, can I use these categories in the search and filter?

    Looking forward to your reaction.
