Hello,
sorry for my English.
I would buy the pro version of the plugin but does not work already free version on my theme .
I use a theme built with themler , and the filter does not work with this theme .
I do not have the archive.php file, I have another file in another place precisely to replace this file .
The problem would come archive.php the missing file?
Thank You
Ross
Hi there, you can specify any filename for your template, so as long as you have a template that uses The Loop (and doesn’t have a custom query on it) you should be good to go without much difficulty.
Patrizia
Hello,
can I use the filter only in sidebar?
Can I insert it in a block of the page as html?
Can I search in my custom fields?
Thank you very much
Best regards
Ross
Yes to all your questions – you can place the search form anywhere using a shortcode, or in PHP with the `do_shortcode` function
DK
One more question – does this plugin work in conjunction with Relevanssi?
Ross
Yup! In the latest version of S&F there is a compatibility issue with Relevanssi but this has been patched and will be released soon.

Question – in looking at the demos, I don’t see a use case that allows a user to provide checkboxes for each category. EG. In our use case we would have say “Genre” and the user should be able to select multiple genres in an OR query. Does it allow that?
Also, we need to be able to have AND queries by different classifications. So a user should be able to select say three “Genres” which would be Genre 1 OR Genre 2 OR Genre 3. Then from the next filter, select Age Ranges: 16-24 OR 33-44. So it would be Genre 1, OR Genre 2 OR genre 3 AND Age Ranges 16-24 OR 33-44.
Does that makes sense? Can we do this without a ton of coding?
A
Ross
Hi there, S&F already does this 🙂
Luis
Hello,
I am using the free plugin and I liked the running.
The plugin I’m using for a site of real estate, and have created two spaces search
1. type of property (house, apartment)
2. status of ownership (lease, sale)
And now I want to know how I can create a third space search about the city.
Can you help me.
Thank you and is an excellent plugin quick and easy to set up.
thanks!!!
Ross
Hey there, to create more fields you just need to add taxonomies which work pretty much the same as tags and taxonomies – this is a plugin I would recommend to do that for you: https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-post-type-ui/
Arto
Before I buy this, I’d like to know if this plugin is a simple way to add a search form to look for information in ACF repeater/flexible fields?
Ross
Hey Arto, I’ve not added support for repeater fields just yet, but its on my list of things to look into. Thanks
Marcus
Hello,
I’m looking to use the Pro version for one of my clients, but have a couple of questions:
Is it possible to get auto suggestion/auto complete on the search field out of the box, or is there any plugin you know to be compatible with this one to get auto complete?
After the 1 year license has expired, will the renewal come with a discount? Is it possible to upgrade from a single site license to a developer’s license later on?
Thanks!
Marcus
Also, once 2.0 is released, will a new license be required or is it considered a normal, free upgrade?
Ross
2.0 is a regular release, when it comes all existing users can upgrade if they have a valid license.
Ross
Hey Marcus, I’m not sure about the auto suggest but it’s something I want to add to the plugin not too far down the line.
RE license, there is usually a discount on renewal (20% – 30%) – and the upgrade to dev is not available yet – we will upgrade our site once S&F 2.0 is complete and look to add this in to our purchasing process.
JP
Hi. Can your plugin filter by metadata added to a category?
Thanks.
JP
Is there an upgrade path from single site to developer license? Will a single site license work on a local install for development as well as your staging/production site?
Also, with the big new update coming, should I expect to have to do more integration work from the current version to the new one.
Thanks.
Matheus
you can use your plugin for portfolio images?
Ross
If you can create the template you can use it for any custom post type
Cristiano Carli
Hi. It seems excellent. But does it work with custom fields and custom post types created with the WP plugin named “Types”?
Ross
I don’t see why not!
Michael Jones
Hi there,
Paid for the Pro plug-in. Where do I download it?
Thanks, Mike
Ross
Hey Mike, something went wrong so I’ve just authorised that and sent out your welcome email with download link 🙂
Sofiskita
Hi! How are you? 🙂 I’m texting you due to I want to purchase your plugin. However, I have doubts that it may serve to what I need.
I want to filtrer the pages, not post. I’ve just upload to my page another plugin for categorize my pages. Nevertheless I do not get the end result I really want, and your plugin yes it does.
Thanks for read!
Ross
Hey there, you can search in any post type you specify, so yes, it sounds like S&F does what you need 🙂
DAVE49
Hi, I have Developer License, Can I use it in my WordPress Theme, which I want to sell in Market?
Ross
Hi Dave, please contact us here to discuss: http://www.designsandcode.com/contact – the developer option is meant to be for website builders
DAVE49
Ok. I did.
DAVE49
Hi. When will you answer?
Mizzinc
Pre-sales Question:
Could this plugin be used to search and filter ‘Vehicle Repair Manuals’ (PDF documents)? Much like when a customer searches for a vehicle to purchase by ‘make, model, year, cc rating’?
If so, could you explain what this might entail?
Ross
You cannot search inside the documents themselves – is this what you mean? However you could search attachments which is an internal post type for associated with every WP upload – and then you could categorise these for filtering – also the filename (title of this post type) could be searchable using the search field, just not the content. You would likely need to install another plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/enhanced-media-library/ – untested) which would add tags and categories to your media/uploads which could then be used with S&F.
JP
Presale question.
Would it be possible to have a search form on the frontpage, that shows results on a secondary page (i.e. property list page), then use your plugin again to filter those results?
Thanks.
Ross
Yup this is not a problem 🙂
JP
Hi. I was reading about the downtime you guys are having for in August for support. As you stated there are bugs going on with Ajax in some way.
As a pre-purchase question, will these bugs effect me in the near-term? What is the issue?
Thanks
Ross
Hey JP, I’m not sure where you’ve read that but Ajax is working fine (just check the demos). We’re working on a big release right now, which means support is slow at the moment – there are always bugs to be fixed but nothing critical as far as I’m aware 🙂
JP
Where I read it is actually on your website above the comments. See below.
Another question, if I buy now and work with integrating it into my site will it work seamlessly when I upgrade or should I expect some transition work.
————————————————————————————–
Notice: support will be very limited over the week 4th August – 8th August – this is due to a large update that is currently being tested.
This will hopefully resolve any issues with Ajax so please bear with us and sit tight! We will of course be checking the forums from time to time but we are dedicated to getting this update out first which should resolve most of your issues.
Arek
Can I create ‘RENT CAR’ serach with this plugin?
Like this:
http://188.226.173.21/conciergewp/
Ross
It looks like that is is not working (!)
S&F will be able to most of this in the next version
Massimo
Hey Ross, plugin looks amazing!
We’re using enhanced media library to build a picture database using WordPress Media Library with custom taxonomies.
Will Search & Filter pro be able to search Media instead of specific post types ?
Ross
Yup S&F can search the attachment post type (media) – so it would be great for filtering if you have taxonomies / custom fields setup on those 🙂
Jeff
Is this plugin compatible with Easy Digital Downloads?
Ross
Yup, you can use it to search any post type (EDD Products), but it doesn’t necessarily hook into your store page itself – for an idea of how it works please read here: http://www.designsandcode.com/wordpress-plugins/search-filter-pro/docs/display-results/
