Hi, I’m about to buy developer licence but I have one question.
Is this plugin can filter single category?
For example:
I’m In example.com/cateogry/rock
And now I neet to filter this category to find item with Rock category and other post meta/term or rating without searching whole website and categories.
Or Other way for example is there easy way to update Category Input with onclick jquery?
Thx for Reply.
Ross
Next version of S&F (out Wednesday) automatically detects the taxonomy or category of the archive, and will preselect this value in your search form, so all searches will be within this category – you can even use CSS to hide the field so it is “invisible” to the user
Arek
Great! Can’t Wait!
Ross
Just to let you know we will now be releasing on Monday after the delay – we’re ready to go but as support is closed on weekends I don’t think its a good idea to send out a major release without support being there on hand to help out.
Thanks

Will Search&Filter PRO version 2 be released this week 07-13 september 2015?
And can you confirm there will be possible to filter step by step? (example: I first choose COUNTRY, then in the step two I can choose the REGION, and then in step three the CITY)
Ross
Hi there, it will be officially released on Wednesday – sorry for the late reply but the new version is taking up all my resources – What you mention will be possible.
Thanks
Marinus
Hi,
When searching Woocommerce, does it only search for the title or can I set it to search excerpt / Short Product Description?
Does the search work on product variations?
Best regards,
Marinus
Ross
S&F 2.0 works on product variations 🙂 The only thing is the Search box searches the regular content like WordPress does – although you could integrate Relevanssi plugin which will power the search box to search in call kinds of things such as custom fields and other data.

Hello!
I’m using the search and filter plugin free version and I intend to buy the pro version, but before that I have to be sure about a thing:
I’m using EDD and Marketify theme and I need to display the page results with custom marketify template (archive-download.php). I’ve find some questions and doubts about it in your support forum and I’m not sure if It’s working well.
I think people are getting trouble about it. Is it working well right now?
I just will buy it If I can use custom marketify theme. Today, with the free version, but the page results is the default wordpress page.
Thank you very much!
Ross
Hi Andressa
Sorry for the late reply – busy on S&F 2.0. S&F 2.0 will work with Marketify no problem, I have been working with a Marketify user and got it set up on his downloads page no problem 🙂 There is 1 line of code to functions.php to make it work, so if you purchase just open a ticket and I can tell you what to add 🙂
Thanks
Dave
Pre-purchase questions:
When using the range search filter, will the numbers be more aesthetically pleasing in version 2.0 than they are in the current version? They kind of seem like big empty spaces with numbers at the moment.
I was unable to get custom fields (number field) to work in ajax search pro plug-in for the range filter. Do you guarantee that it will work with search pro? Thanks
Ross
Hi Dave, what do you mean spaces with the numbers, can you send me a link to what you can see?

Hello,
I have a question before I buy. I need to make more than one filter using categories. Is there any way I can select the filter items? As you can see below, I want to divide the categories and let people choose what they want to search. Please let me know if it is possible or there is another way to do it.
Filter Header – Ana Tür

Ross
Sure you can do this, but my recommendation for this to work well would be to create seperate taxonomies for each field (taxonomies behave just the same as tags & categories – so you’re already used to using them) – check here how to create them: http://www.designsandcode.com/documentation/search-filter-pro/getting-started/adding-new-fields/#Creating_New_Taxonomies
Adriano Maia
Hi!
Its possible to display only the parent category, and when selected in a select box, display another select with categories children’s from that parent category? Because im thinking and make a taxonomy: Places, where have state and city, state is the parent and cities will be the children…
Ross
Not possible yet but want to add this to S&F 2.1. Although you can achieve a similar effect by creating different taxonomies for each field in the Search Form – which will auto update to reflect your other selections – so it has a kind of drill down effect – which will only show available options based on previous selections.
Thanks
Nadine
Any update on the 2.0 release? Looking to add this to a site in development, but if 2.0 is a major update, would rather wait. Thanks!
Ross
It will be released this Wednesday 🙂 Lots of new features, can’t wait to setup the demos.
Adriano Maia
Hi! If i buy the plugin now, i will get the 2.0 version?
And i need to rebuy every year? or this license is lifetime?
Thanks!
Ross
Hi there, license lasts for 1 year – which means you get all updates & support – after the year, you can continue to use S&F but you won’t get updates until you buy a license again or renew.
Thanks
Tano
Hi Ross,
I’m looking to filter posts through a custom meta or a taxonomy type – I am aware that this can be done with the Pro version since I can see this on the demo. My question is the following: is it possible to remember this setting by placing a cookie or requesting user to sign up?
Regards,
Tano
Ross
I’m not sure what you are trying to do, do you want to save the info from the search that a particular user has done?
Tano
Apologies I should explain more. Say I have a a two categories called books and reviews. A user selects to filter and see only the review posts. Is it possible to remember this filter when the user visits the website in the future, so they see only review posts?
Ross
Hmmmmm, this should be possible but its custom work. So you would have to remember somehow what the user chose (I guess in a cookie/transient or something like that) – its definitely possible to retrieve this info – then you would have to use a filter to modify the S&F query to use the saved category selected – its possible, the hooks are there – but the implementation would be up to you.

Hi Ross,
I’m looking to rebuild my loan comparison website with a new search and filter plugin.
It should be similar to this: https://www.google.co.uk/compare/creditcard/qs#p=0
Is it possible to build something like this on your Search & Filter Pro plugin and would you be able to recommend developers to customise it?
Thank you.
Dmitry
Ross
Hi Dimitry
Looking at that search form / filtering system – this looks like exactly what S&F 2.0 can do (release this week).
You will of course need to customise it to behave similar with some JS/CSS – so you have dropdown panels etc.
I think if you are able to set up the initial search form yourself (I think I can guide you with this, and is covered in support) all you will need is a WordPress JS/CSS developer to make the design changes you want to the search form.
For the results, you may be able to use your existing layouts, otherwise you will need a dev that can work with WordPress templates – I don’t think you will need an expert in S&F – just a dev who can cover the topics I outlined above 🙂
Thanks
Elijah
I see that presales questions are answered sometimes with the 14 days. Doesn’t instill much buyer confidence. Is that how you answer support tickets as well? (Just need to set my expectations straight)
Thanks.
Eli.

Hi there,
Excellent plugin! I just wanted to check when using the AJAX results mode is there any option to change the effect when items are filtered based on selected options, I’m essentially looking to re-create something like this “re-arrange” effect used here : http://demo.themerain.com/skills/
Thanks ever so much,
Tonya Lawrence
Ross
Hey there – I guess you are looking for a ajax/isotope effect – I’m afraid not – the content gets loaded in and replaces the original content – there are a couple of JS events in S&F which detect when this occurs, so you can add in custom loaders etc but that specific effect would be quite tricky to recreate (someone with advanced JS knowledge *may* be able to do this)
Elijah
HI, a couple of presales questions:
1. Would it be possible to use Sear ch & Filter Pro widgets on a specific page, but to use a different WP search engine on the rest of the site?
2. If I opt to use Search & Filter Pro as the search provider for the whole site – will it be possible to have a search field to the main menu? (or even better – to have a small icon, when you click on it – it shows expanding field)
3. need this plugin to search images. If I associate images with specific category – what would be in the search result – image thumbnails?
Thanks a lot.
Eli
Ross
Ahh sorry just seen this one! I was on holiday last week (and all support & dev is currently run only by me) – in addition we have a big release this week which makes things a little busy/crazy atm…
1) Sure, S&F doesn’t take over your default search – you can build multiple search forms and results pages without it affecting other things on your site
2) This would be possible – but not natively with the plugin – this is some custom development
3) Yup S&F searches the attachment post type (which is all your media library) and has support for custom tags, categories & taxonomies associated with media.
Thanks!
John
Hi ROSS,
thanks so much for developing this plugin, i want to know is it possible for me to customize the plugin and search criteria? so that i can have a form that allow my user to select , e.g gender, age, education level and then it can be used in search and filter pro to sort out all of these people ?
i am actually building a platform that allow my visitor to able to sign up using a form and the other us er can find the people with the criteria they want with the great filter function u provided here.
Ross
Hi John – S&F can certainly do something like this – but remember S&F is for searching posts, or custom post types, so as long as your “profiles” are in fact a custom post type then this should be possible. In terms of creating a sign up form or something similar you will need top use another plugin – there are a lot out there, I’m not sure which would be suitable – but I think you will need to combine multiple plugins to achieve what you need.
Thanks
Lugi
hello,
I want to buy the pro plugin, but I want to ask first whether this plugin can help me create a website with WooCommerce in which I want to create a search engine that can generate a search on these 3 aspects:
-Trademarks car
-models of cars
– Type of gasoline
so I want to add and organize my products categories under the above aspects and then store the products appear confome to the search made by the user.
I want to use the plugin pro to do this type of search engine that is green on this website, WooCommerce supported:
http://www.oscaro.es/Home/ResetVehicle
can you please confirm if I can do this kind of search engine to pro plugin. I ask this question because you do not offer money back
I appreciate your fast response. it is urgent
thanks
Ross
This will all be possible in S&F 2.0 – which will be released this week.
Thanks
Jin
hello
can you share the Demo 1 (Movies) ‘s code source?
Ross
No problem, open a ticket on support designsandcode.com/forums/forum/search-filter-pro/support/ thanks

Can I search woocommerce product tags, not wordpress normal tags?
Ross
Yup!
Pratik Patel
Preorder enquiry:
I would like to know if the plugin supports horizontal layout and supports custom attributes.
Ross
Horizontal can be achieved with some CSS: https://www.designsandcode.com/forums/topic/horizontal-layout/
By attributes, do you mean WooCommerce attributes? In that case, yes.
Thanks
Saif
Hi,
I really like your plugin it looks awesome 🙂
Can I add multiple search boxes (each search box will search in different custom field I have) and use AND to show the posts that include all these keywords within the specified fields?
Ross
Hey Saif, not just yet – you can have a single search field only for now, and uses the WP search to operate – you can search in a custom field using Relevanssi. I will look to add this in to the plugin in the future though. Thanks
